The Unionville Curling Club

Club History

The Unionville Curling Club is privately owned by its members and operated by an elected Board of Directors. It represents a group of individuals dedicated to the Sport of Curling.

The Unionville Curling Club was founded in 1919. From its humble beginnings in a small converted barn to its present location, the club has grown to become one of Ontario's most respected curling clubs. Situated in the heart of the village of Unionville, it serves curlers from the surrounding area as well as Metro Toronto.

The Unionville Curling Club is an active member of the Ontario Curling Association, the Southern Ontario Ladies Curling Association and the Toronto Curling Association.

Men's Section

The Men's Section accommodates the Novice and the competitive curler by offering schedules for both "Draw" and "Competitive" Curling.

Draw Schedule curling allows men the opportunity to play in an easy, relaxed atmosphere on randomly selected teams. Three schedules per season give each member an opportunity to meet and curl with other members of the club.

If your competitive fires still burn then the Team Entry Curling affords members the opportunity to put together your own team to compete against in-club teams. All teams play a ladder system based on total points earned.

An Opening Night Stag and Men's Golf Day are other highlights of the season.

Senior Men

Afternoon curling is popular with the retired men who enjoy playing during the daytime. Reduced fee schedule exists and limited membership is available.

Day Ladies

The Ladies Section functions during the week with a large choice of events including "Competitive" and "Draw" schedule curling, in-club weekly bonspiels and guest days. Other activities include Opening, Christmas and Closing Luncheons, as well as a Ladies Golf Day held after the end of the curling season.

Mixed Curling

Curling has long been recognized as being a very social sport. All Club members have the opportunity of participating in a variety of Mixed Curling Events such as mixed draw schedule with special Fun Nights, and in-club mixed bonspiels.

Business Ladies

The Business Ladies Section allows working women the opportunity to curl in the early evening times. Like the Day Ladies this section offers a full calendar of events during the winter months.

Juniors

The Unionville Curling Club is proud of its Junior Curlers who over the years have accomplished many curling feats at the competitive level. The Junior Section is divided into two groups;

Kids from 7 to 12 years curl in the Little Rocks Program using smaller rocks. The smaller rock enables them to learn the fundamentals of the game while still having fun.

The Junior Program allows teenagers from 13 - 19 to play with their peers while leaning the strategies that will develop them into seasoned young adult curlers. Activities include in-club bonspiels, opening and closing parties, as well as weekly schedule curling.
